Johan Elfstadius has been appointed Managing Director (MD) of CBRE’s Swedish business
Johan Elfstadius has been appointed Managing Director (MD) of CBRE’s Swedish business and will join the company on May 1st 2010. Johan was previously MD and CEO of Colliers International AB, Sweden, and brings over ten years local market knowledge and experience to CBRE’s rapidly growing Nordic operations.
CBRE first established an office in Sweden in 1999. Today a 40-strong team, based in Stockholm and Gothenburg, provide agency, valuation, capital markets and corporate services to a wide array of clients. The company continues to secure the country’s most notable property instructions, evidenced most recently in the acquisition of three prestigious Gothenburg city properties for Wallenstam.
Johan has over 10 years of commercial real estate experience, most recently as MD/CEO at Colliers International AB Sweden. Prior to that, he worked at Jones Lang LaSalle in the company’s Nordic Capital Markets Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Mike Strong, Chairman CBRE EMEA, said: “Johan joins CBRE at a very important time. While Nordic economies such as Sweden have been impacted by the downturn, healthy underlying market fundamentals in key cities such as Stockholm means that the country will grow strongly once economic conditions allow. Johan’s proven market expertise will help to ensure that CBRE is in the best possible position to help clients take advantage of future opportunities in Sweden as and when the market returns.”
Johan Elfstadius, future MD CBRE Sweden, said: “Recent client wins highlight the exceptional service that the CBRE team already delivers in Sweden. I look forward to joining the global market leader and heading up the Swedish contribution towards the company’s ambitious Nordic growth plans.”
CBRE Sweden’s current MD, Magnus Ungmark, will remain with the company as Head of Business Development, Sweden. In addition to a new local role, Magnus will also work with CBRE’s regional team on the ongoing development of CBRE’s broader Nordics platform. Over recent months the company has seen growing cross border success in the Nordics with a number of significant corporate services contract wins, including Nokia and StatoilHydro ASA.
Mike Strong continues: “I’m delighted that we will retain Magnus’ skills and knowledge within the organisation. Our Swedish business has seen significant growth under Magnus’ leadership and his new focus on business development will help us to continue to expand our market share both in Sweden, and across the entire Nordic region.”
